University Employers’ industrial action decisions

The Board of the Finnish Education Employers has decided that shop stewards and occupational safety representatives may not participate in trade union training in accordance with the Collective Agreement for Universities during working hours from 28 April 2025 onwards.

The Board of the Finnish Education Employers has decided to suspend the collection of membership fees agreed in the Collective Agreement as of 1 May 2025. University Employers have provided incorrect information to the members of the Finnish Union of University Professors when they state that each employee can pay the membership fee directly to their own trade union if they wish. The Finnish Union of University Professors will issue instructions on the payment of the membership fee to those members from whom the employer does not collect the membership fee.

A solution to the collective agreement dispute concerning universities is being sought under the leadership of the National Conciliator. A 24-hour strike will begin at the University of Tampere on 7 May 2025, unless a solution is reached before then.
